Iain Lennon, born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1996, discovered his passion for the mandolin at the age of eleven. Since then, he firmly established himself within the Scottish plucked string orchestra scene and the British Banjo Mandolin and Guitar (BMG) Federation. After completing his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Glasgow, he continued his musical journey in Germany and obtained his Master of Music in 2021 at the Cologne Academy of Music and Dance (Wuppertal campus) under Prof. Caterina Lichtenberg, Annika Hinsche and Mike Marshall.

Iain is an international prize-winner as a mandolin soloist and chamber musician. He has performed in the United Kingdom, across Europe and in the USA. He is also in demand in Germany for opera and theatre (including with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen).

In addition to Chordofonia, Iain Lennon is a member of Alafia Ensemble. Their debut album, Amalgamando, was released in 2025. He also performs in a duo with flutist and pianist Leonardo Pedroza Cabrera.

Iain teaches mandolin, guitar and piano at music schools and regularly leads workshops in various musical styles at home and abroad. Since 2018, he has been the musical director of numerous mandolin and guitar orchestras in Dortmund, Gladbeck, Hilden, Kirchhellen, Troisdorf and Wuppertal.
