Raphael Ophaus is a sought-after soloist, music educator, and chamber musician who regularly collaborates with renowned ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Aventure, and the Curious Chamber Players. His performances have taken him to festivals including the Musikfest Berlin, the Ruhrtriennale, the Darmstadt Summer Courses, and the New Year's Concerts at the Alte Oper Frankfurt.

He has performed with distinguished conductors such as Michail Jurowski, François-Xavier Roth, Dennis Russell Davies, and Jonathan Stockhammer. Close collaborations with composers like Helmut Lachenmann, Louis Andriessen, and Heiner Goebbels, as well as numerous world premieres of works by young composers, form a central focus of his artistic work.

Numerous CD and radio recordings, including those for BR, HR, and SWR, document his work. Raphael Ophaus has received awards at national and international competitions and various scholarships for his artistic achievements. He is a scholarship recipient of the German National Academic Foundation, the Germany Scholarship, and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Live Music Now.

He studied guitar with Prof. Jürgen Ruck and Prof. Stephan Schmidt and supplemented his artistic training with a master's degree in musicology from the Universities of Zurich and Würzburg.
